The Gay Hispanic Caucus was established in Houston, Texas, in 1978 with the aim of creating social, cultural, and educational events that would bring together members of the LGBTQIA+ community. In 1985, the organization changed its name to Gay and Lesbian Hispanics Unidos (GLHU) to be more inclusive of women. As GLHU, the organization shifted its focus to include political activism in social, cultural, and educational initiatives. GLHU was dedicated to advocating for the rights, well-being, and visibility of LGBTQIA+ Hispanics. —— El Gay Hispanic Caucus se estableció en Houston, Texas en 1978 con el objetivo de crear eventos sociales, culturales y educativos que reunieran a miembros de la comunidad LGBTQIA+.
